The 12-year-old girl was a finalist in the contest and shined on stage with the Whitney Houston theme.

Paola Guanche, a 12-year-old girl, won the first season of La Voz Kids (Telemundo); she being chosen by the public this Sunday, during a special final program of three hours.

Paola comes from a well-known family of Cuban singers and artists. She began appearing at functions with her family at an early age and that is why she feels comfortable in front of the public, reports a statement from Telemundo.

“I can go on stage and I know what I have to do to put the public in my pocket,” said the young singer. Paola decided to participate in the program to show that she, like the rest of her family, has charisma and charm in her voice… which she amply demonstrated by winning the competition.

As the winner of La Voz Kids, the Florida native won a record deal with Universal Music and a $50,000 cash prize from AT&T for her education expenses.

In the grand finale, Paola sang the song immortalized by Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You”, with confidence and poise. The audience and the show’s three mentors stood up to applaud.

“Paola is an exceptional talent and she has impressed us all. She has shown excellence in all genres of music during the competition. She clearly represents the theme of La Voz Kids and I am proud to have mentored her. All the boys [who competed] proved to be winners; I loved working with everyone and especially TeamRoyce,” said Prince Royce, Paola’s mentor on the show.

After being awarded, Paola concluded the special singing the classic “Químbara” popularized by Celia Cruz, with which she made everyone dance on their feet.
