The baby seal was rescued and taken to the Seal Rescue Care Center. She is always looking for her mother and continues to suckle in the glass window, which is obvious for any seal. They do it for milk. It was a sign that Ili Pika missed her mother very much. So her caretaker Hayleigh gave her a mother’s wetsuit. It resembles the mother of the cubs and therefore embraces the mother in a wetsuit. The ultimate goal of the caretaker is to help her stay healthy and reach the right weight to release into the wild and grow like any other seal.
Everyone has to be careful with Ili Pika. She loves her bathtub and doesn’t like anyone coming near it. She repeatedly slapped the brush as Hayleigh cleaned the tub and then barked and spat at her, showing how annoyed she was. However, this is what carers want. They wanted to prepare her for the wild life. The caretaker feeds the baby seals by pouring fish into her bath. Ili Pika surprised her caretakers when she became the smallest seal to eat fish. Soon, the quiet seal calmed down and showed everyone that it was very hot-tempered.
Ili Pika began to flourish. The target weight of a seal is 30 kg, while she gains 2-3 kg per week. So once Ili Pika hits 30 kg, she will be ready for the wild life. The baby seal continues to recover and her caretaker Ms. Hayleigh believes the aggressive seal will soon return to the ocean. Meanwhile, the other seals being cared for are ready to return to the wild. As soon as the seals were released, they were released into the wild and happily returned to their natural habitat. So, almost a month later, Ili Pika moved into the rock pool and took care of the other seals. She hurried out and into the water. She joins another seal and has a short chat. At the pool, baby seals learn social cues to build muscle and compete with each other.
