Welcome back! Touching Pictures Of Soldiers Going Home!

Forty years ago today, the last American soldiers left South Vietnam, officially ending the U.S.’s involvement in the Vietnam War. In remembrance, check out these sweet homecoming photos from past and present—we dare you not to crack a smile.

Five-year-old Gavin Shaw and his mom, Mona, give Master Segeant Adam Shaw a welcome-home hug last November. That day, about 230 soldiers came home to Fort Carson, Colorado, after having been deployed for nine months in Afganistan.

These are the most heartwarming military homecoming surprises of 2019… so far!
