Some people have the power to touch our hearts so deeply that what they do is never faded from our memory. 16-year-old Raffi Arto’s voice sounds so much like that of legend Elvis Presley that it gives us chills. During his last performance on French The Voice, the audience and the judges were hooked.
He performed the hit song “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and, according to many, it’s one of the most memorable we’ve ever heard. Raffi’s voice has been described as soft as a feather, yet so powerful.
This prodigy has been in music since he was little. He began to bond with the piano at the age of six and he became his “best friend” in the years to come. When one of the judges asked Raffi how much time he spent playing the piano, he replied:
“I don’t count anymore! When I first started playing the piano, I trained two or three hours a day. Today, I still spend a good hour. But I have other passions, like football and boxing… Well, I put sport aside for The Voice because this adventure will be short, and I try to make the most of it.
Even though music comes naturally to him, he doesn’t let his talent slip through his fingers and makes sure to practice both playing the instrument and singing. He cultivates his vocal skills and enjoys acting, but this was the first time in his life to be in front of this large group of people listening to him. In an interview for the French magazine Le Parisien, he admits that it is not easy to play knowing that millions of people are watching him at home on television.
He also admits that he suffers from stage fright every time he’s about to take the stage.”When you’re in front of millions of people, it’s not easy.”During Elvis’ song, he seemed to be playing for many years. A true professional who won over everyone.
The talented teenager hit every note – even Elvis’s, so difficult and hesitant – and looked more than happy to do so. Clearly, he’s a natural performer!
