Footage from the outskirts of Kyiv captured Ukrainian troops helping civilians across a collapsed bridge as Russia drew closer to the capital.

Fighting intensified in the area on Saturday, with repeated explosions being heard in the town of Irpin, where the clip below was recorded.

Sky special correspondent Alex Crawford previously spoke to the two women as they left town, headed for a bus that would carry them out of the chaos.

“They are bombing the bridges from the ground,” said one woman. “You can see what we saw, we got scared and we started leaving.”
