The dog that fainted in the park was saved by artificial respiration

Recently, a 9-year-old dog Stone in California, USA, suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing while playing in the park. A man nearby promptly saved Stone’s life with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) including chest compressions and CPR.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a very useful first aid procedure for people, applied in many emergencies when in an accident, when the victim’s breathing or heart rate has stopped. In fact, this first aid method is also used on animals.

On a Friday morning last month, a 9-year-old dog, Stone, was playing in the park with his owner when he suddenly collapsed. This unexpected incident caused the owner to panic and scream for help.

Luckily, a man named Jay nearby ran to her after hearing her cry for help. When he realized that Stone had stopped breathing, Mr. Jay immediately carried out chest compressions and CPR for the dog.

After a few minutes, Stone’s body began to writhe, the dog was able to breathe again. Everyone who witnessed the incident can now breathe a sigh of relief. Stone the dog then expressed his joy when he was saved.

This touching scene was filmed by passersby and went viral online:

Mr Jay said Stone was then taken to the vet for a check-up. As a result, Stone’s heart is completely healthy, the incident was not a heart attack but it could have passed out from excitement. Stone the dog is currently recuperating at home and can only take short walks.

Jay mentioned in an interview with radio station KOST that when he knew Stone needed help, he immediately acted without thinking.

He also said that he has learned CPR on YouTube and this is the first time he has used this method to save a dog. He admits he was a bit worried but was glad that what he learned could have saved Stone’s life.

A similar touching story happened last December. 42-year-old ambulance driver Prabhu in Tamil Nadu, India, also saved a monkey’s life with this method of CPR.

Mr. Prabhu said that when he heard that a monkey had lost consciousness after being bitten by a wild dog, he did not hesitate to perform CPR and breathe into his mouth until the monkey came back to life.

At this point, Mr. Prabhu hugged the monkey, patted it like a baby and happily said: “Let’s go to the hospital!”
