Alice Fredenham was a singer from Series 7 of Britain’s Got Talent. She was twenty eight years of age. She worked as a beauty therapist.
On her performance, David said: “Alice, you are every inch the star. You look incredible up there. I love it when someone just stands on the stage and just draws us into the song as you did.”
Alesha added: “The first time we met you, you were really shy… I know there was a slight mistake in there but trust me when I tell you this… your voice is majestic.”
In her audition she sang My Funny Valentine by Frank Sinatra. Simon Cowell commented that her voice was ‘like liquid gold!’ Amanda Holden went on to add that she had just performed the most ‘Mesmorising, soultry, and sexy performance’ that she had heard on the show at the time. David Walliams added that when she sang she was ‘like a goddess.’ Alesha Dixon concluded that her performance was ‘Simply beautiful.’ She advanced through to the following round with four yesses.
In the Semi-Final she sang Cry Me A River, originally performed by Julie London, however there was a slight mistake in her performance. Alesha described her voice as ‘seductive and beautiful’, adding ‘you’ve got to believe in yourself, that was great’. Simon added ‘there’s a real place in the market for artists like you’.
Before BGT
Two months prior to her BGT audition she had auditioned for ‘The Voice’ with the song ‘The Lady Is a Tramp’ by Tony Bennett, however she failed to receive any turns from coaches Danny O’Donaghue, Sir Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, or Jessie J.[1]
Controversy
Due to the confidence that viewers noticed when she auditioned for The Voice, many believed she was faking her nerves and fright when she auditioned for BGT as a part of a cynical ploy to win votes. A BGT Spokesman later said ‘We didn’t even know she had auditioned for The Voice when she appeared on our show’, before they then went on to deny the accusations regarding her apparent stage fright.
