Hits from the movie Lion King, recorded at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C., as part of the U.S. Navy Band’s 2019 Concert on the Avenue series. Featuring Chief Musicians Rachel Sarracco and Shana Sullivan, and Musician 1st Class Danlie Cuenca
Featuring incredible singers all dressed in white, the band of the United States Navy performed “circle of life,” the classic soundtrack to the Lion King. It begins with a woman, the lead singer, singing fiercely. Many people may think of the men and women in our Armed Forces as skilled fighters who serve at home and abroad for the cause of freedom, and while that is true, the warriors of the United States of America are not. This ferocious soldier can also carry a tune!
The pianist has had success with piano sounds as fast as brass. The band put on a chorus of “he lives in you”, as another lead singer joins in with a beautiful soprano. The first lead singer, with an impressive pitch, sang the song’s verse. A sweet chorus follows, providing a magnificent setting that enthralls the mixes.
The musicians took over. Dancers are off the charts — releasing sweet-sounding songs. The background singers, in a smooth way, sounded a chorus. It was perfect; It is not something that can be described in words but felt with the heart and enjoyed with the ears. A lead singer, with a shaky alto, plays shrill tunes. Soon, instrumentalists joined the flow. The sound is pleasant, and the connection… super smooth.
