In a desperate attempt to leave Afghanistan, the people of this country tried to cling to the American plane and then fell from a height of hundreds of meters.
Hundreds of Afghans have flocked to Kabul Airport – the country’s last avenue not yet under Taliban control – after the force managed to encircle and enter the capital, seizing power.
Videos appeared on social media showing scenes of chaos and horror. Military planes fly low on the tarmac at Kabul airport, below are hundreds of people trying to hang on to any part just to escape from Afghanistan.
One of the most poignant videos is the image of a person chasing a crashed plane from a height of hundreds of meters, ending the desperate attempt.
The situation has worsened in Afghanistan since the US announced its withdrawal plan on 9/11. The Taliban launched a major offensive against government forces in an operation that ended on August 15, with the group capturing the capital and the resignation of President Ashraf Ghani.
A group of staff from foreign embassies, as well as Afghan nationals, remain at the US military-controlled Kabul Airport awaiting evacuation from the country.
