Video has emerged of people in Ukraine running away and throwing themselves to the ground when shells explode over their heads in the town of Irpin.
Soldiers were also filmed preparing weapons and moving trenches around the capital Kyiv area this morning as Russian troops continued to close in on the capital.
Sky’s defense correspondent, Deborah Haynes , based in Lviv, said it appeared Russian forces were trying to flatten the road through the outskirts of Kyiv as the 40-mile convoy approached.
The Ukrainians blew up bridges to stop the Russian advance and also attacked a 40-mile Russian convoy heading for the capital.
