Dancer Breez Carver, a 13-year-old North Texan, is scheduled to appear in America’s Got Talent on July 6 at 7 p.m. ET. on NBC. The Lantana resident will perform a lyrical dance, a style that combines ballet and jazz dance techniques, to Kelly Clarkson’s song “Piece by Piece”.
“I always feel a passion on stage, wanting to dance for other people and show them what I can do and show them what it means to me,” Carver says. “I think I just like telling stories through dance.”
The AGT contestant has been dancing since the age of 5 and dancing jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet and hip-hop with DV8THECOMPANY, a Southlake-based dance company, and The Vision Project, a Dallas-based dance program.
This season has seen Simon Cowell return to his post as judge, following an electric bike accident last year that prevented him from attending the show’s live tours. There will be seven rounds of auditions this season, and Breez will make his sixth-round debut.
In the performance, Breez will tell the story of his adoption and the love his parents have for him through lyrical dance.
“The song says,” Lift me off the ground. It’s like my dad lifts me off the ground. He’s always helped me a lot. It’s about my dad and my mom. It’s about l love my dad gave me. It’s just a beautiful song. ”
