Celine Dion’s 1997 power ballad “My heart will go on” serves as the main soundtrack to the film Titanic. The song proved to be such a hit it topped the charts in over twenty countries.
But on The Voice Kids, a young woman named Bente Van Der Steeg took to the stage with her violin and proceeded to blow the judges and her viewers away with her cover of the Dion classic.
Hailing from Genemuiden in the Netherlands, Bente plays the familiar intro on her violing, quicky getting a positive reaction from the show’s judges.Bente is no ordinary violinist either. That much was clear from the moment she opened her mouth and began singing, matching Dion’s pitch and tone for each part of the power ballad.
You wouldn’t think Bente could either by the looks of her. That sweet, charming expression lulls you into thinking she’s just another good singer. But no one was prepared for the power and the control this young lady showed on stage.
Bente’s barely began when two of the judges hit those buttons, swiveling around to face the young violinist. Bente’s family cannot believe what is going on! She hasn’t even started! The moment she sings the first few words, the remaining two judges turn their chairs around to see who this incredible talent is.
Meaning she’s yet to mature vocally. And yet here she is hitting note after impressive note that the great Celine Dion left for the world to hear.Bente is so full of talent and so full of promise, we can only hope to see and hear more of her in the future. By the looks of this audition, she’ll go on and on.
