At the Disco’s ‘High Hopes’ Eclipses ‘I Write Sins’ as Band’s Most Streamed Song

The official video of “High Hopes” by Panic! At The Disco from the album ‘Pray For The Wicked’.

Looks like it’s time to “close a damn door” to the honor of being Panic! At Disco’s most streamed song. “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” kept that mark for the better part of the band’s career, but it was replaced by the current single “High Hopes” in red.

At the time of writing, “High Hopes” has already established itself with 289,231,271 streams on Spotify, having recently surpassed the 286,243,687 mark of “I Write Sins”.

“I Write Sins” was first released by the band in 2005, one of the featured songs on the band’s debut album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. It should be noted that the song was released at a time when streaming wasn’t all that important, with Spotify not even coming out for another three years. But once streaming became more prominent, the song quickly entered the top of their most streamed songs. Meanwhile, the new “High Hopes,” which was released this past May, benefits from the popularity of streaming in today’s culture.

According to RockSound, you can quantify the incredible rise of “High Hopes” like these. To listen to “High Hope” 289 million times, it would take you 926 million minutes, 15.4 million hours, 643,000 days, 91,800 weeks or 1,761 years. It would have to be “high hopes” for any other Panic! track to reach that milestone in the fastest time.

You can listen to “High Hope”, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” and other Panic songs! at Disco favorites currently on tour. The band led by Brendon Urie will perform at Buffalo tonight (January 10), with a North American tour booked for most of February.

No matter how hard your dreams seem, keep going. You might even have to climb up the side of a building in downtown LA, but it’ll all be worth it at the top.
